It’s not the best of times to be living in Singapore.

The PSI is hovering just a hair’s breadth below hazardous levels and the number of dengue cases in Singapore have crossed the 10,000 mark.

I worry about my child, about the air that he is breathing in, about the environment that he is living in.

While I can’t do anything about the haze, I’m glad that I am able to protect and safeguard our home against mozzies. It’s been two weeks since I started using the Automated KONK ® I Flying Insect Starter Kit and I have to say that I am pretty impressed by it. Despite being surrounded by construction sites, we haven’t had any mosquitoes in the house. Miraculously, the hordes of ants that used to march into our house from the common rubbish chutes at the corridor have also disappeared.

The smell does need a little getting used to but it’s only apparent at the end of the working day, when we come back to a home with closed windows and stale air. Imagine the taste of chrysanthemum tea from medicinal halls – that’s exactly how it smells like.

I’m glad this gift came at the right time.

Speaking of right time, I came home from work on the day that I received the products to see two cockroaches taking a stroll outside my front door. An inconsiderate neighbour had dumped her rubbish OUTSIDE the chute. WHAT THE. I immediately whipped out the KONK ® Handheld I Handheld Flying Insect Killer and secured my perimeters.

See, according to Su-lin from Our Lifestyle Store, the spray is a natural deterrent and forms a protective barrier against the insects. And true enough, none of these creepy crawlies made their way into our home.

Honestly, since then, I haven’t had the need to use the handheld spray because the automated one is doing such a good job. That gives me a peace of mind because I’m not taking dengue lightly so please take care folks!

(Yup, our doorway is pretty messy. And a little man needs to learn to put away his shoes!)
